205 Specialist In The London Or Hertfordshire Area

Recommended Posts

nomis

Hi folks, hope I have posted this in the right bit of the forum.

I bought my 1.9 GTI just after Christmas. It is in decent condition and has just had quite a bit of engine work done, but I would like to get it checked over by someone who knows what they are doing and can identify anything that needs sorting.

The one thing I have found is that it idles low once warmed up at about 500 to 750 - doesn't cut out but doesn't run smooth.

Anyone know of a decent 205 specialist or mechanic that knows there way round one properly in London or out in Hertfordshire (I am in North London)

Cheers

Did you find a London/Home Counties specialist? I'm not in need of a specialist just yet, but as and when the time comes it would be great to know if there are recommended places in the London area. At the moment it seems like the nearest Pug specialists are Pug1Off and Pug Racing. I'm happy to travel, but also interested to hear about local outfits.

Cheers

I live in the London area and travel to Pug Racing for any large works.

Same here. I'm in Surrey near the M3/M25 boundary and even though it's about an hour plus in good traffic down the M3 / M27 / New Forest or via the A303 & Salisbury I still give mine to Miles @ Pug Racing :)

There are decent bus links that run every 30 minutes direct from Fordingbridge centre to Salisbury & Bournemouth where, in both cases, you're within walking distance of the mainline train stations with a London (Waterloo / Clapham Junction) bound service on South West Trains. It's cheaper getting the train at Salisbury though.

I've just seen your garage thread and the description of your car, I would definitely be taking that to Miles @ pugracing if it was mine!

Cheers for the comment's, I class London as local as I have customers from all over Europe so a hr's drive is nothing (Bar the M3 roadworks at the moment)

I can honestly say not many can beat me with experience on these as having my first one in 1988, Skip Brown & Shenpar are the only others I would recommend in this game as I'm that picky

I have my collector friend in North London which some on here know about who has the odd few 205's which I look after.

Hi Matt, I didn't find one.

Haven't had the car checked over by a specialist yet although had it MOTed yesterday and it passed with just a little work on a faulty rear brake and I got an advisory on CV gaiters done - this was by a trusted local garage.

I have emailed Pug1off about getting some suspension stuff sorted as it is currently lowered and running on very unforgiving shocks which don't like London's dire road surfaces. Would quite like something more forgiving, although maybe keep it slightly lowered.

I contacted Pug1off as it is the right side of London for me - I am North London.

Miles, I might drop you an email too, to see what you think.

Ps, Matt, that looks a lovely car you have got there.

No worries, it's only another 20 Miles and the beach is 15 minutes away :D I do have a mate in Palmers Green that can do the odd job

I'm in Aylesbury. Only about 10 miles out of Hertfordshire up the A41.
