Tailgate Barrel Removable?

Hi Chaps

 

Just a quick one. Is it possible to remove the barrel from the tailgate lock? There seems to be a shaped piece of metal holding the whole thing together and I can't see a way of removing it without bending it.

 

I guess it should come apart right? After all it was put together once.

The piece of metal you can see is a spring retainer that sits in a groove on the barrel, it's got a returned flat edge, get your finger tips on it and pull/slide it away from the barrel, they are usually really tight if they' em not been off before.

I'm further along than that mate. I need to remove the actual barrel from the lock.
