Are These Lowering Springs For Gti ?

Recommended Posts

mmatthej1

We recently got a pair of red-painted springs, said to be suitable for use in lowering GTI from suspension - trouble is, don't know if they are actually lowering springs and, if so, how much they will lower car by!

Can anyone comment/advise please, based on the attached piccies?

Many thanks.

They're Ventura springs that lower by a nominal 50mm.

For reference, here's the Ventura Spring Catalogue with them listed :)

They're ventura and IIRC should be 35mm but end up a little more.

I googled PEU3316 and it came up with a PDF stating that they are for a gti/CTI and lower 50mm. It said the make is Ventura...

Thanks guys, that seems like conclusive identification!

Just the job, as back of car is already lowered and front is a bit 'up in the air' !

One thing I would say is that if they are 50mm as claimed then that is going to be pretty low and not really ideal for standard / OE replacement (eg Bilstein B4) dampers!

Oh, interesting comment - would we need new/special dampers, do you reckon?

A couple of other suspension queries:

1) Are 1.6 & 1.9 front suspensions the same? Would struts/springs be interchangeable?

2) Is 1.8 turbo diesel suspension same as GTI front suspension?

1, yes.

2, different damper and spring, same wishbone and droplink type though, base model type hubs.
