Rotten 106

This is a photo I took a young lady's Peugeot 106 only came into have a look at her exhaust.

She was advised it wasn't particularly safe but she still drove it back to wales so her dad could take it back to the garage that motd the car 6 weeks previous.

The other side was just the same, just thought I'd share

im guessing some of that rust remover would be no good then ? ,Bit of a joke really because if they complain to vosa about this im pretty sure there not allowed to drive it until vosa can inspect it and they have to pay something like 50 quid to complain.

Has she had it long?.I went with the sister in law a few weeks back to some local car dealers and they were all selling cars with 12 months ticket and some of them were pretty shocking, The best of all was a punto where the front shocky and top mount and come up that far it had put a big dent in the bonnet ,And when pointed out the salesman laughed it off and said he doesn't think there is anything wrong with it ,

Lets hope the bonnet catch is decent so when the strut comes through the bonnet holds it down!

You only need to pay to appeal an MOT fail. A so called 'inverted' appeal when you are querying a pass is free and you have a longer period to complain for corrosion too, three months IIRC. If the place that passed it have any sense they'll fix it free of charge.

There is nothing to say you can't drive it either AFAIK, VOSA (or whatever they are called these days) will hold the appeal at your local MOT centre if you request it. I did once and a very dodgy tester had to travel from West London to Ipswich and spend an hour and a half in my local garage (which my mate runs!) with me and several VOSA people.

Must be a 106 thing cos I checked over a mk1 106 for a lady a few years before she drove from Darlington to London. Anyways check took ages mainly due to the fact everywhere I looked there was something wrong, rotten chassis, sills, worn bearings, bushes, broken front coil spring, wheel cylinders were totally shot so back brakes were basically useless. There was about 2 pages on a4 with faults some really serious, and she got in the car and drove it down totally ignoring our safety warnings. I have scrapped cars but genuinely this was worse than every other car I have inspected. Im not sexist just a realist and theres a reason most broken down cars have woman sat in the drivers seat

That's generally the first area needing strengthening on a 106 rally car build

And people break 205's because of 1 hole in an inner wing

Says a lot for 106's this, im still shocked at seeing that.

I once had a fiat uno that had rotted out a rear shocker mount but at least the spring mount was solid
