Best Gearbox For Xs (Long Journeys, Daily Driver)

Hi there ive had my xs about a year now its been great and is in really good condition i dont want to get rid of it but doing longer journeys to work now and doing 70mph and 4000rpm can not be very economical so was wondering if there would be a better ratio gearbox that would suit and be a straight swap?

 

any thoughts?

Uk rallye box?

Saxo vtr is by far the longest, maybe too long

 

The 1.4 Saxo furio box is slightly longer than an xs box

 

Avoid the 1.1 boxes, they are longer than the xs but in my experience are weak

i think the rallye boxes are quite hard to get hold of, il maybe have a look around for a 1.4 or vtr box will they be compatible with my clutch and flywheel? a straight swap?

Yes clutch and flywheel and release bearing- use everything off the xs

 

Swap the xs reverse light switch..

 

Saxo boxes have some extra mounts and a different gearbox to body mount, it'll all become apparent when you see it, nothing difficult
