Be1 Plated Diff Will It Fit Any Other Boxes.

Recommended Posts

As above really Iv got a be1 box in my 205 gti6 with a quaife plated lsd. The car tops out at 115 and could do with a bit more top end was wondering if there is a box that my diff would fit in like the gti6 box? Steering lock isn't a problem. Also my box is supposed to have a quaife gearkit in helicle syncro kit.

Quaife don't do a plate diff, only a ATB thing which if using on track get shot of it and upgrade to a plate Diff (Not from them either) The final drive's can be changed but expensive but if topping out at 115bhp it must be a 5.1 or something which are worth allot as well. I;ve got a 4.8 CWP and on a std engine at 7500rpm it's roughly around 120mph

The 6 box's have good ratio's but are one of the weakest box's out there so best avoided and keep with what you've got

Ok been told the diff has had new plates fitted so maybe it's not a quaife diff. Will find out what ratio is in there as it has a spare one also.

What miles said about the diff isnt quite 100% true. Quaife bought tranx, which is a plate diff.

Probably got a late gti6 ecu with a 7250 limiter, so the 4.8 would be correct.

If it is a Tran X then I would sell it while it's in good condition as spares take a while to get hold of, I sold mine as soon as Tran X got bought by Quaife for that very reason and it was proved right.

The ZF diff's had 2 types, one which could use any crownwheel and a custom crownwheel, Very good diff but again finding service isn;t quick

The diff has just been rebuilt with new plates. There is another CWP with it that's being sent to me.

Pull the cover off the diff and the teeth number will be stamped into the cwp. eg 63 x 16 would be 3.94:1
