Easy way to tell - BE1 pedal has a hole at cable end, BE3 has a hook.

its not specific to BE boxes, its a 1990 changeover thing.

Not all, the very early BE'3 had the pin type which I try and use on car's that run uprated clutch covers as the plastic is weak point.

But they are dead easy to find, I've got a couple I have just removed from some earlier car's

There is a cable that can run a be3 box from a be1 style pedal, you might be lucky that this has been used previously on yours.

(On a VTS box thread DCC posted a pic of BE3 pedal for me. If you want to see what it looks like.

Depends on the gearbox casing, most late be1 boxes can be converted from ball pivot to cross shaft.

the earlier 1.9 mi16 boxes were exactly that, theres quite a bit of confusion from the way people have habitually identified certain parts and changes being attributed slightly incorrectly, i.e as I mentioned the clevis pin pedal change to hook type was not specific to the introduction of the be3 box, its a 1990 change which was applicable to the ma box as well.

hence there are some 89 be3 cars with a clevis pin pedal & cable.

in a 205 the change from be1 to be3 did also happen at the same time as the change from ball pivot to cross shaft release, some say the later type gives a nicer feel but personally I dont think theres much difference if you compare like for like, i.e new bushes cable and pressure plate.

I don't have a be1 to compare yet as picking a couple of them up end of feb so at worse may need a different clutch pedal if anyone has one spare.

that's either a late Mi16 box or a TD/HDI BE3 box, has had the early clutch arm fitted as the 306/405 clutch's of that period where Pull
