Hello from Greece.

 

I have owned a 205 GTI 1.9 for 10 years now. I kept of the road for the past 4 years but very soon I will will put it back in circulation.

 

Beacause of some strange laws here the registration documents state that the car was first registered in 1993. It is obviously older as it is a non-cat 1.9 with a BE1 gearbox and the dark grey/light grey central upholstery.

 

The chassis number is VF320CD6201887761.

 

How could I find out the exact build date?

enter vin into servicebox, look up characteristics, find build code, decode build code, bingo.

Servicebox doesnt give much, if any info for that Chassis number. However it does give a build code of 4470 and a 'Warranty Start Date' of 1st January 1990.

Could be something to do with import rules, i've had 4 605 svti's of various years yet all of them were registered 21/12/93.

 

I've just put my own vin number VF3741B6607912941 into service box and it says no vehicle found
