I've just used 1306 C7 on mine. I know its been said on here that you have to trim off some plastic tabs to get it to seal properly but I had no problems with it straight out of the packet (Phase 2 black header tank) I rang a few local Peugeot dealers and found one in stock. Was about £7.00. As far as I'm aware my engine has a standard GTI-6 thermostat, I've used a BBM adaptor.

If you wantthe original look, then you can pick them up easily from a local factors for about £3. I am not aware of any difference between the 205 and 306 pressure settings and a 306 ones will fit a 205 anyway.

Std RS Stat is fine, Cap wise I'd stick with the metal type as they are what the header tanks like,

No need for stat adaptors, A hose from pug fits a treat £15.00 ish new) and lets you use a better air filter as it's longer.

Does it need to be a higher pressure rating for the gti6 though? Or is standard 1.9 gti fine

Gti6 is either 1.3 or 1.4 bar, can't remember which. Your motor factor will tell you, or use service box.

205 one is 1bar

The 1bar one pisses out with the gti6

The 205 one is fine, If it leaks then you have a issue somewhere, I have never had issues with 205 metal ones, Only loads with the plastic things, A mate of mine fell fowl to this as well not that long ago

I still use the complete standard cooling system (inc cap) on my race car. It has no issues keeping 250+ hp under control.

So are you more experienced GTI-6 guys saying that anyone needing to use a higher pressure cap has some kind of problem?

Honestly that's not meant in a sarcastic way, it's just that it seems 50:50 if you look back through this forum as to whether a different cap is needed. I tried a Stant cap which was the same rating as a standard 1.9 one two weeks ago and just as dobboy says when my engine warmed up it dumped coolant. With the higher pressure one it's fine.

Just wondering if there's some kind of problem with the engine or pipework.. I'm using a full set of BBM hoses.

Plum, i personally think our engines are fine.

Pug wouldn't have put a 1.4bar cap on it if it wasn't needed.

My engine runs sweet with no issues at all.

All my Pipework is Pug btw.

I've got a metal cap, on white bottle. Think the part is (First Line) FRC73. They're only a fiver or thereabouts.

Been searching ebay for these illusive 1.4bar caps. Do the caps from the 1.1 205 fit the black expansion tanks as they also appear to be 1.4bar

Scrap that Ive found one on Amazon. Still odd though how some have a issue and some don't but seeing as I've gotta buy a new cap may as well go 1.4 from the offset
