Mister Auto - 309 Shafts (Wrong Pt No.?)

Recommended Posts

dobboy

Just off the phone from Mr Auto (as i'm thinking of fitting 309 shafts), i think i'm right in saying that they have the wrong shaft listed for the short one.

They have (SKF) Pt. No. VKJC 4553 listed for the long one at 850mm which seems ok

But have Pt. No. VKJC 3861 listed for the short on at 575mm long

I think the correct Pt for the short one should be VKJC 8570 at 610mm (got this from another site)

Anyway, the eastern european female who i tried to explain this to wasn't very helpful, and wouldn't entertain looking up where i could find Pt VKJC 8570 on their site, which is a pity as they seem to be doing the shafts very cheap at £65ish each.

Am i missing something here?

SKF have 3 shafts listed for the 309 on their website/catalogue

a 575mm version, a 610mm version, and an 850mm version?

Not sure, as 575mm sounds far too short.

610mm and 850mm is correct for 309 XU/XUD model near and offside respectively.

My local guy can get me two shafts for £85, he say's they are by "Shaftech" c/w cv joints etc...... it seems a bit cheap but say's that's what he can do me them for.

Anyone got anything bad to say about Shaftec shafts?

Yeah, but strange the 575mm popped up again for NS length, maybe SKF's catalogue is wrong and MrAuto just copied it.
