Restored Miami Blue 205 1.6 Gti (Whats It Worth)

Recommended Posts

Miles

No where near that value at the moment, As Tom has said 1.9's are the big money, 1.6 are still the little hero so to speak.

there is a few more things that are not right, 1 big thing is the exhaust and sump bolts, But I'm being picky and when you see things in the wrong place you know someone has been playing without 100% knowledge of what's what.

Restored and original examples, The latter will always attract more buyers and value I'm afraid and always has been no matter what make or model of car which is why on mine when I do it only the running gear will be done and the body left, yes it's not 100% but gives some history on the car

I had a similar thread to this not long ago, it seems very tidy and straight, but i'm doubtful the cars that ask top dollar ever reach it.

I may be wrong but the ones ive seen asking top money seem to be there forever.

The only thing I can think is, if only it was a 1.9, in that condition....

But I don't doubt someone will pay top dollar for it.

That's a beautiful car. I reckon someone would pay very good money for it. Many people will want a good car that they hope won't start racking up the bills straight away. Those can easily be worth a grand if your new pride and joy actually turns out to need an overhaul. If restoration is done and bills are recent people will pay extra hoping for peace of mind

I would take aim at £6k, see if anyone bites and be willing to accept an offer.

Firstly thanks again to everyone for the comments.

I agree with what most of you are saying and ill be the first to say this is not what i call a concourse top money car but at the same time it will put alot of these "top money" 205`s out there to shame. Its had a really nice good quality restoration a few years back and that really shows through as this is how it still looks 5-6 years on. It was restored to be used not to be showed and kept in an air tight bubble most of its life.

Also bare in mind this car has had mainly a genuine peugeot parts restoration not a motor factors restoration and when you drive the car that really shows the quality of the parts on the vehicle and ultimately should value this a little higher. Same as anything really the better the quality the more they tend to cost

I know some of you are saying if it was a 1.9 gti it would be worth more but to be honest if you really do some homework on the pricing of them you will see actually that it doesn't really seem to affect the pricing point of the "top condition" 205 gti`s as there as so little left in that condition when they do pop up they go for good money whether it be a 1.6 or 1.9 as they are an iconic hatchback and people are willing to pay good money for them not only to use them but as an investment due to the fact in the coming years they will go up in value.

Average price i seem to be getting off most people when they value it inc people who have actually seen the car is around 6k ish. Considering you can get a normal run of the mil (all be it a nice clean one) for around 3k then the top price really low mileage low owner cars are at 10k+ 6k for mine is nearly bang in the middle which would price it about rite in my opinion. (i hope im rite in thinking that)

I will update the final pics of when ive spent a couple weeks doing all the little finishing jobs inc the interior and changing a few parts back to original and ill see what people think but in the mean time if anyone would be interested in this car please get in contact with me.

The car wont be for sale yet as im going away for a month soon so ill be putting it up for sale around end of march time.

Thanks again to everyone for your comments/ideas and i take them all on board and will be making changes to the car before sale.

I'd pay up to 8 for that if I were in the market.

Is that not roughly what you paid for yours David?

I think the estimate of £6k is reasonable and FWIW I agree on the point about 1.6 against 1.9 prices. The prices are far closer than most on here seem to think. Things used to be that way but since the number of decent ones started dwindling it's levelled slightly especially since the average modern shopping trolley would hump both off the line and both offer an equally good driving experience for us ageing wide boys looking to relive the good old days.

Best of luck with the sale.

Great car. Worth what a few are saying.

Change the chromw bits for nice originals that are clean ( easy to get ). Will just make the bay look a little less bling.

Otherwise again, nice car.

I have to agree. I've seen a lot of 1.9's for sale that seem to have stuck around for ages. There are one or two which have been around for the best part of a year and they've not been crazy money. As to why..........

According to howmanyleft the 1.6 is the rarer of the two as well.

Would this still be for sale? If so how much and would the gutmann spoiler be included with the car?
