Wiring Saxo Pump

Recommended Posts

mmcgtk

Ive mocked up my saxo pump to my rack before I fit my engine

I tried to run the pump off a battery without the relays..the pump started smoking

is this because I bypassed the relay?

I know these pumps need a consistant live, switched live and an earth

is there a guide to the wiring anywhere ?

You just simply give the pump a live and earth. The relays are there to prevent the pump drawing too much current through the alternator exciter wire. You basically have 1 relay to swtch another relay which gives 12v to the pump.

Earth the relays, give them 12v, the smaller relay gets a switch from the alternator.

Got it working after

theres only one relay 2 heavy wires , positive, negative

A small green wire, which I think is a switched live

And another small wire which i think is an earth?

Which is the consistant live and which is the switched?

The pump only seems to work when wired with the heavy live going to the pump

I thought that the heavy live should go into the relay?

Both ways power the pump, however the p/s only works when wired like the diagram
