206 Cam Belt Change

Recommended Posts

mrfirepro

Changing a cambelt on a 2003 206 (2.0 Hdi) and noticed there is some movement in the crank cam pulley. The woodruf key seems to be smaller that the slot in the pulley allowing movement of around 3-4mm.

Just wondered if this was normal?

I did all the work on a 2.2 a few years ago, very similar engine, no movement. I would be buying a new woodruff key tbh

some are meant to have movement as they stopped using adjustable pulleys.

On the woodruff key? I doubt it! That would be a disaster waiting to happen!

yes on the woodruff, pulley is wider allowing for small movement when the bolt is removed.

Thanks for your help,

Very useful, cambelt and WP change and all working with no drama, except for a few scuffed knuckles.. .

He is right, you hold the pulley over to one side when fitting the belt, then when you turn over by hand the wood ruff key roughly sits in the middle of the pulley, thats how ive always known them
