Nice advert, especially seeing a 205 but what was Peugeot thinking with the two-tone colour?! Yikes!

you can have it Indred or white not just the two tone.

reviews of the std gti have been favourable, this one having a diff over the std open unit will make a difference.

I do wonder if these are as tunable as the fiesta st, matt farah of thesmokingtire has a played with exapmle running std boost with a full exhaust intercooler kit and a tune, ran 250 whp and 300 wheel lbft on their 100 race fuel.

Can you switch off the power steering in the new one? if so then I wouldn't mind it - nice to see they have done something that look's original - just like the 205

for a front arb certainly is the case, you can compensate with higher spring rate if required.

But that will have a similar effect won't it?

Good to see they have made changes that reduce understeer and cause more rotation.

I've come across softening the front ARB when fitting an LSD before on small (fwd) French hatchbacks.

Get it right and you don't need one!

Funny how they always reference the 205 Gti on every new model.

Since people want all sorts of comforts in a car it has resulted in them weighing 2 tons and people buy cars with the criteria of fridges so manufacturers only "oblige" to make more money. Driving fun doesn't seem to be the focus of most manufacturers unfortunately.

It's good to see cars like the Fiesta ST and the 208 30th anniversary.

I'd be surprised if the sounds in the ad weren't dubbed in. That alone puts me off it. That said, I do quite like the normal 208 GTI...which is a change considering that, aside from the 205, I'm not really a Pug fan. If I wanted a brand new performance hatchback though I'd probably still go for a Fiesta ST.

I think it's pretty standard to dub stuff in to be honest.

I don't really like the colour scheme on the red/black one but I'd love a white one.

I would prefer the advert if it were more accurate in that when the 205 is driving across the ice lake with the plane behind it and the 208 cuts in front, the 208 should just understeer straight across the screen and never be seen again - Maybe the diff helps.

Also, since i appear concerned with accuracy, i will even out my bias a little; When the 205 is dropped from the plane it should just fall to pieces when it hits the ground.

Seriously though, i'm not a fan of the advert being quite so CGI heavy, it seems to be intentional and almost self mocking but to me it just cheapens the image of the car. Then again, at least its a bit better than the recent 'new' Civic type R advert where the Type R doesn't actually exist at any point, is wholly CGI and they don't make that clear at all.

apparantley the original 205 ad in europe was exactly the same story line, had james bond type at the wheel.

Funny how many people here are mentioning the fiesta St. When I talked about getting one the majority on here said "don't"

The ad is better than most car ads these days but it's just such bad CGI on the car. The physics look all wrong for its motion and its like its on fast forward. The fake sound is also dreadfully inaccurate.

Is this ad on the TV or just Youtube etc? TBH I'm surprised its lasted this long if it is, what with the Toyota GT86 ad being banned for demonstrating a car driving fast, after complaints by morons.

Bets on how long it lasts before it's pulled because of similar complaints...

The ad has been on TV for a while now. I can see it getting pulled as well. The BMW M4 convertible ad got pulled before it even aired due to it drawing comparisons between the car and a car on a race track.

The worlds gone mad.

I have a 208 gti now and it is a very good car. Not without its faults but what is. I have 30th edition on order, just waiting for a delivery date. And it had to be the black /red one.

My brother has a 208 gti. It's nicely quick, quiet, comfy, safe and looks pretty decent. Apart from the twitchy power steering it's way superior to the 205, but nobody stops to talk about a 208 gti in petrol stations or pub car parks...

Here is the original 205 advert that's being referred to;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhpOQGEAhPw

Surely one of the best car adverts ever?

I love the fact that all the driving in the 205 advert is real, the CGI in the 208 ad is just a little silly to me :)

That's why they've done the new ad...based on the 205 GTI's ad with a modern "twist".

With all the fakery in it at least in Europe people can recognise the stupidity...in the US and Canada just before Christmas there was a Nissan (I think) ad on TV with cars going up and down a halfpipe, and then a disclaimer at the bottom stating that cars cannot snowboard. Y'know, just incase they get a law suit.

Which ski slope was the ad filmed at? It looks like the one at Innsbruck with the mountains in the background
