Convertible Friends - A Question

Just pondering stuff on the way to work as you do and for some reason thought of this.

On my Cti whenever I put the tonneau cover over the hood when its down, I always get loads of dust and sand under the cover resting on the hood.

Anyone else get this? Is it because I am not getting a good compression/seal on my boot seal?

Sounds like the sponge rubber lining of your tonneau cover has rotted...had this with my previous tonneau cover.

Hang on really you think the material has gone porous? Didn't know it does that over time. How can I tell for sure I'm surprised if it has because it would mean it's letiing sand through.

I get a golden dust too when putting my tonneau on. It is just the foam in the inner lining breaking down a bit and coming through the mesh

Ahh ok I get it now. It's the insides falling out not the dirt coming through. Thanks guys!

I think is is the glue that secures the plastic mouldings to the tonneau breaking down or what Henry said above, or both!
