23 / 24 Mph Per 1000 Revs In 5Th?

Recommended Posts

I am hoping to do the ew10j 180 bhp conversion next year, originally I thought I may use the matching g/box. After some googeling it seems that only does 19 mph per 1000 revs. its purely for road use and I want to cruise at 70mph with only 3000 revs on the rev counter, anyone know of a suitable gearbox, preferably a simple bolt on job.

Iirc its only the bellhousing which you need. So fitting the be3 hearset in the be4 housing coukd be possible. If youre retaining thr vvt then i cant see it being an issue with slightly higher revs.

I use a BE3 Mi16 box with a 1.9 final drive and that gives me 3,200rpm in 5th at 70 mph. However that is on a turbo so there is plenty of torque to pull it. A BE3 diesel box will be lower still, but I think you may be going too low with that.

There is an online calculator here:

And an excel download here:
