Juttie205 123 2 Cars Posted December 12, 2014 As i'm restoring my car and it should have a be1 gearbox and have found one for sale can you get all parts for these as will want to rebuild it.
dcc 855 Posted December 12, 2014 yes there is a company on ebay which offer the bearings for around £105 delivered. The only issue is a good synchro set. I have a spare be1 1.6 gti gearbox I am wanting £25 for if it interests you.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) Depends on the age of the box, various types of BE1, BE1 box's should be dirt cheap so much so 95% of the ones I get in are scrapped Edited December 12, 2014 by Miles
Juttie205 123 2 Cars Posted December 12, 2014 would fit a be3 but none seem to be for sale and not cheap.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted December 12, 2014 As you no doubt know, buying a box is a gamble unless you see it stripped, Allot of BE box's on 205's are Derv ones being supplied from Scrap yards in the day so people just say a 205 GTi box for sale so you cannot really hold it against them
flipperthebushkangaroo 2 Posted December 30, 2015 Does anyone on here nowadays refurbish BE1 boxes? I have my original box which i would like to have rebuilt if possible, it has become a bit tricky to get into 2nd and 3rd. Sorry to butt in on you post juttie205
welshpug 1,656 Posted December 30, 2015 they are barely any different to a be3 to work on, same bearing kit
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted December 30, 2015 You can only do the BE1's to a degree, It depends on the type as they used various configs over the years, 1&2 share the same hub as does 3&4 with 5th being the odd one out,
