An ebay seller called stevencowie often has them listed but doesn't seem to have any right now, it might be worth messaging him.

I wouldn't go for a ptfe one - ptfe creeps under pressure so the gasket deforms over time.

That's what happened to the 4mm one I used to run.

I've just bought one from here: http://www.ferriday.co.uk/thermal-products/

Not made from ptfe and should not creep. Having my car mapped tomorrow so won't be able to report back on how it performs over time for a while yet though.

I've had one of phill Moffats ptfe gaskets on my gti6 engine for 5 years without any problems.

I think its a bit thicker but how thick I cant remember.

I just want to make it clear that I have no connection to the seller on ebay that I mentioned earlier in the thread, I see they have listed a gasket on ebay since this thread has been running but at twice the price they were selling them for!

Thermal Exhaust Plates (T.E.P.s) – to reduce heat-soak from the exhaust manifold back into the cylinder head casting.

TEP-300x93.jpgAn exhaust manifold (especially turbo) is a large store of heat that should not be allowed to find it’s way back into the head – limiting this heat transfer can only be a good thing. Our Ferratherm material limits heat transfer to such a degree that an open Propane flame (approx 1300 deg C in air??) will only make the very surface of 4mm thick material glow red – no more than a fraction of the thickness can be made red hot – the rest of the material simply stays its own natural colour.

Is this really an improvement? If your turbo manifold is not cooled via the head, it will get hotter and crack sooner??

Get him to do a XU10J4RS Gti-6 one - it's the same as the MI, just one gasket instead of two, and I think the holes for the locating dowels are slightly off but it fits fine.

I have the same one on my MI16 at the mo; ordered it and he had it with me within a couple of days.

gti6 doesn't have dowels, it used two studs to locate the manifold instead of using bolts all round.
