Sucessfull Floor Stiffener Ideas?

Recommended Posts

yorkshirekowboy

Hello, been overhauling my car, and noticed where the front floor stiffeners are on both sides, through the years heros have been jacking the car up via them instead of the correct sill placements/subframe. Pulling off the rubber glue/underseal there is surface rust about that area which I will treat with rust treatment. I know I'm being maybe sad, but I would like the underside of the car to look ok as the top. Any ideas of how I can get the dents out etc. I was thinking slide hammer but it does seem thinkish metal etc. Any ideas? these parts are no longer in production. Can you get pattern panels for these?

I think the slide hammer and being a bit brutal will do the job... That of get a broken shell and cut the bits out and weld the on top.

Danny,

Mine were dreadful. Cut the floor away inside, hammered them into shape from inside then welded a new piece into the floor.

Good job, might try the slide hammer some time. Don't really want to cut my floor. If anything maybe the stiffeners could be made. ?
