Original Key

Greetings all,

Just a quick question this one, did all 205's have the same type of key from the factory? The classic, square Valeo/Neiman one that can be seen here;

The reason i ask is because i all my 205's have had that type of key until i bought my current GTI, which is an early ph1.5 on an E-plate, and with it came this key;

....which i just thought to be some spurious aftermarket key blank until i noticed that in this period 205 advert;

...the spurious key can be seen as genuine (at around the 14-16sec mark) and then i looked closer and noticed that the round key is also Valeo/Neiman, made in France and appears to have the period Valeo font.

I know there is no real point to this and it might seem a bit 'anorak-ish' to some, but does anyone else have the round type key - maybe its a ph1 thing that i've not encountered before? I always thought there was only one type for all phases and having had a search i can't find any mention/picture of the round type. Any information is appreciated.

Cheers,

Sam

Weirdly, my very first 1.0 XE had this round/oval type of key, but no other 205 ive had since has; that was an E reg car...

Seems they are rarer than i'd thought, or just aftermarket. Strange how it appears in the advert though, but maybe that was the directors key randomly plucked from a different car for the shot.
