Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever had lakes forming behind the rear lights (also on opposite side)? Where's it coming from please?

This is likely to be a seal, either those mentioned above, or the rear quarter windows. btw, it has been covered many times before - try a search.

As above, check:

Rear light seals.
Rear quarter window seals.

If you're also getting water inside the boot / under the carpet then also check:

Tailgate window seal.
Tailgate to body seal.
Spoiler fittings.
Rear quarter panel badges.
Tailgate drain holes.
Rear sunroof drain tubes.

Most of the seals are going to have shrunk to varying degrees at this stage, allowing water to get past them and into the car.

Another point of note is that if water is also physically inside the tailgate / hatch, when it fills up to a certain level any water will then try to drain out of the drain holes at either side of the end of the tailgate panel. The problem is that both drain holes sit pretty much directly on top of the rubber tailgate to body seal and as a result water can drain into the boot rather than outside.
