Central Locking Goes Open/close/open/close (And Repeat)

Recommended Posts

Guys,

Central locking has been having a hissy fit of late (as per the title). Is this the c/l controller on the way out? If so, does anyone know if they're still available?

The battery has been flat a couple of times as a result of the open/close. Grrr.

Maybe one of the central locking motors is on its way out , more likely to be water in the control module up in the roof console . The aerial mount could be letting water leak onto the electrics .

I have a similar but intermittent issue with my 405, I haven't fixed it yet so not much help I'm afraid.

Mine does the same as yours, locks and unlocks several times but:

(A) it only does it when unlocking, never when locking.

(B) it only seems to do it in winter, it hasn't yet started to do it this year so it might be affected by the cold.

© when it is doing the unlock-lock-unlock-lock cycle, if I pull up hard on the passenger (interior) door lock pin then it stops pissing around and stays unlocked until I press the key fob again.

Thanks for the replies all. I'm away this weekend, but will look at the roof when I can.

Also, I think this does happen following rain so rings true.

Thanks again

It does that when it thinks that a door is open, give all the locks a good dose of wd40 or similar, preferable from inside the door.

Have had this happen when a battery is on its way out and losing charge, most noticeable when the nights start getting colder.
