What Engine?

Need some help identifying the engine in my 205.

It's a 1993 205 badged as a GTX, I'm a little suspicious of that, considering my insurance thinks it's an XT..

 

It's the 1360cc SPF injection. Any model codes would be great. Thanks!

No, that was the GT you're thinking of Alex.

 

XT was in effect a Phase 2 XS with a slightly de-tuned engine - 80hp rather than 85hp IIRC.

 

As far as I was aware, XT's were quite rare and weren't available as late as a K plate.

 

I think the GTX's used a TU3M engine which I believe is code KDY.

Thats right, was a while ago now lol.

The late Xs was the one to go for! Twin choke solex carb, I was very dissapointed with the gti after my xs.

Gti Had more power, but not much, or didnt feel like much more, though the gti felt stiffer and looked better with the trim.

I think Peugeot had a fairly simple code for the cars.

 

X = 3 door

 

G = 5 door

On my Micra, there's a plate under the bonnet with the color code on it, is that the same for 205's? Need to plan ahead... It's looking a little tatty.

It was a rare model, had a gti trim inside like the sdtd's. very little rust on it and the only issue was the gear linkage needed adjusting if its the one.

 

cant remember to code but the comment on the de-tuned engine sounds right as it has a cat and was 80 bhp.

The cars currently off the road as the ignition barrel has collapsed, jamming the key in there. A new one is on order .

It certainly feels more powerful than my 1.0 Micra!!

Colour code should be on the right side of the slam panel above the headlight IIRC. There is a thread on here somewhere with them all listed
