Non Opening Windows

Hi there, I apologize if this is a stupid question in advance.

 

Are non opening rear quarter windows a straight swap to fit a gti model?

 

And is it possible to get them with the brown tint at all?

You need both the glass and seals, but otherwise yes, they fit straight into a GTi or any other 3dr shell.

They came tinted on the STDT models.

STDT's had opening rear quarter windows like GTi's and other high spec 3dr's.

I've a pair of tinted non openings here, and I'm sure they were removed from an STDT, but then it was at the same time I was pilfering stuff off an STDT amongst a base model (sure it was an STDT, but I could easily be mistaken. It was green with the GTI trims etc).

Must have been swapped over if they did come from that, as STDT's (and AFAIK, DTurbo's) had opening rear windows.

 

To clarify that, certainly mine did, and a quick image search on Google shows all the other ones I looked at having them too.

I may have the registration number of the particular car in a photo, so I'll do some hunting.

 

I'll also get a photo of the windows I have to prove they did do a bronze tinted non opening somewhere along the line

Thanks again guys, amazing knowledge on here as always!. Im thinking ill have to get them tinted bronze if possible anyway as looking for bronzed non opening windows may be rare?. Would be intrested in knowing if they did them though.

From memory, the holes for the front hinges are there, but you would need to rivet the bracket/mount for the rear opener in place.

 

The trim is basically the same, just has holes cut in it in the appropriate places.

Some bronze tinted non opening windows did appear.
