Sold My Car...now Feeling Regret. :-(

Recommended Posts

scottbarton

Put her up for sale a couple of weeks ago, and admittedly did not try very hard....Put her up on an MR2 club forum page of all places followed by the 'pugsforsale' link.

http://www.pugsforsale.co.uk/ads/1-9-205-gti-1991-miami-blue/

Had a couple of enquiries but nothing that concrete.

Then Sunday I list her on eBay as a classified listing and wham....multiple enquiries, a couple of phone calls and she was sold! Deposit sent to my PayPal yesterday with a view of picking her up next week! Full asking price. Cant help but think i underpriced her, but thought I was being realistic as although cosmetically she is pretty much A1 condition after replacing every bit of of trim, the engine is relatively untouched. I did a bit of research before selling her and there were cars that had had engine work selling for around the same price...

Anyway, a chapter is drawing to a close. I have very much enjoyed the trials and tribulations of owning her for the last near 4 years, made some good acquaintances, (you're not a bad bunch you lot!), and have learnt lots on owning a classic 24 yr old hot hatch. I never made Pugfest in her which is a shame as I would have loved to show her off.

I do feel a pang of regret as I have poured a lot of time and energy (not to mention money) into her to get her where she is today, but needs must and my MR2 will always be my first passion. Comfortable motoring awaits in the guise of a BMW X5 or something equally as lardy! Maybe I will get to go fishing again as I will be able to get the rods into a bigger car! ha ha!

If I had a bigger garage and more time on my hands I would of kept her.

Thanks everyone for you help, tips and advice over the last few years. Its been very much appreciated. Especially to James_pug who helped me rebuild the rear beam, jord294 for selling me all those wonderful new rare parts, and farmer for pointers on where to get some nfp bits and bobs!

Hats off fella's!

:-)

You'll be back ;)

I said that in 1994 at 20 years old when I owned an F Reg 1.9 GTI, and waited 17 years before owning one again! Cant imagine many will be around in another 17 years....but then I will also be pushing my late 50's!

I sold my Miami a few years ago and regretted it straight away. Did the same with an XS some 20years ago and then my 1.6 cherry. Got a low mileage 1.9 in cherry now and that's never leaving..what ever happens

Scott,

If the pangs get too much you can always swing by mine.......

Sad to see a local 205 going, but nice to know you got what you wanted without too much hassle.

Think the L reg on Ebay is Spenos on here.

Sold my 205 gti in 2009, back in the saddle 5 years later. Addictive cars!

Ditto. Sold, regretted (cried as it goes!), bought a dog of a BMW, sold that and back in a 205 within a week or so.

I remember saying similar way back in '08 when I sold my Series 2 RS Turbo - soon got over that by buying the 205 :hehe:

The new owner has got a really decent car in yours though, especially with what you spent on new o.e bits & pieces, etc :)
