Advice On Fuel Hose Ends

Recommended Posts

jamie_1992

I'm after a bit of advice as I'm planing on rerouting the fuel line through the car. Il be using braided hose and the screw on type hose fitting (think there called aeroquip fittings) now the part I need advice on is what fittings will I need to go from the pump of the tank to the injectors,il have a inline filter and iv seen a fitting that goes through the bulk head. Also where is the best supplyers.

There is no easy way of attaching aeroquip fittings to the standard pump.

Unless you are going rallying on rough surfaces the standard lines under the car are more than adequate.

At the engine bay end of the hard lines you can buy a compression 8mm fitting to convert to AN -6 which means you can then buy suitable "aeroquip" ("" intended, Aeroquip is a trade name just like folk call a vacuum cleaner a hoover) fittings and so do the engine bay end in "aeroquip".

I buy mine from either Torques via Ebay, or Speedflow. Torques are slightly cheaper but Speedflow you can ring up and speak to someone which is sometimes an advantage, especially if you are not totally sure what you need to order.

Just to add.

You could use the hose end finisher things on the fuel pump, which are basically nothing more than a glorified jubillee clip with a alloy cover. But to me there is little point in that, as what you get is no better than the standard clips onto the pump.

Is there a fitting that will connect hose to the metal pipe off the fuel rail?

From memory there are two different sizes for feed and return, dose the AN-6 relate to the size hose the fitting is for?

ive just done mine with torques an-6 braided hose, it doesnt actually fit onto the pump in and outlet as they are a weird size, slightly bigger than 8mm, i have used a small amount of rubber fuel hose then a small bit of copper pipe to attach the braided line too

You need Teflon lined hose if it's going inside the car. Teflon hose is not to be used with push on fittings and jubilees, it's a rigid liner. I know people do it but it's a Bodge.

Torques sells adaptors to convert rubber hose to AN fittings. I suggest you go on his eBay shop and have a look at his stuff, there's a fitting for everything!!

Braze on AN6 fittings sounds good to me!

If you're struggling to get anyone to do it you're more than welcome to post them up to us to sort.

The fittings need to be steel if you're brazing/welding them on to the fuel rail.

thats exactly what that is.

i dont think they are blanks they already have a hole all the way through, not sure if the hole will be bigger than 8mm if it is it may be tricky to weld but if not you can just drill to correct size (8mm and 10mm)

Jamie, you worry too much :P they do indeed have a hole through already. For your application I'd make the hole bigger at the end I'm welding so that the pipe goes inside the fitting.

Johniban, from memory they're a bit of a pain as they're steel fittings pressed in ally and a bit tight for space. Drop me a pm after christmas and I'll have a butchers for you.

I've just done all my fuel lines but I ran ptfe lines through the cabin to bulkhead fittings. Then in the engine bay I've used normal stainless braided hose with hose finishers on the fuel rail

I used an-6 steel blanking plugs from Think Automotive.

Drilled them out to suit the size of the fuel rail, then silver soldered(braised) them on.

I also got the rail blackadised at the local Platers.
