Damaged Thread On Number 2 Camshaft Bearing Cap

Recommended Posts

yorkshirekowboy

Finally putting my engine together, when tightening up to torque on the xu9j4 camshaft cover, the small left bolt next to the centre bolt, the thread on that camshaft cap gave away. So annoyed. ???? What's my options? I have another number 2 cap from another head but am I right in thinking that it won't be ok to transfer one to another due to wear.? I did as said doing the correct sequence and the torque setting of 13nm around all the camcover bolts. Cheers

helicoil.

you can't use a cam ladder from another head very easily.

Thought as much, right well I will have to take it to get done. Thinking 13nm maybe too tight? The other 2 centre camshaft cover bolts were ok.

It's says in both the bx book, and the xu9j4 overhaul book to tighten the bearing caps to 10nm, Peugeot 405 book to 15nm, finding this peugeot 405 Haynes is heading in the bin.

Got my part helicoiled, torque my bearing caps to 10nm , but because I only took number 4 cap off, I've only tighten them in the lowest sequence up, 19,20,21,24 .
