1.9 - 1.6 Caliper Differences

I'm sure it's been coverd but I can't find it.

 

What are the differences between the two GTI calipers?

 

I was of the understanding that they are the same size and piston size but the 1.6 ones are alloy therefore being lighter.

 

I currently have 1.6 hubs and discs but have the 1.9 calipers, so if the 1.6 calipers are lighter but with no brakeing downsides, I'll go with them.

1.6 uses Bendix calipers, alloy body with cast iron pad carrier

 

1.9 uses Girling calipers, cast iron.

 

1.6 calipers are lighter yes, 1.9 are stiffer and probably are superior on braking performance.

 

You can interchange them.
