How To Take The Petrol Cap Apart?

I'm wanting to get the car and associated bits painted, but how do I take the petrol cap apart without breaking it??

Iirc you just carefully prise the trim part off. Not sure you could dismantle it any further.

The grey/black trim unclips and then the body colour piece also unclips. As with any plastics they are less likely to crack if they are reasonably warm, it's normally cold brittle plastics that snap.
