Removing Trim Tape Adhesive

Recommended Posts

acox99

I have pulled the weather strips off that go around the door apertures, but I haven't found a product to shift the glue. Even thinners were not much cop. What have people used.

I soak white spirit into kitchen roll and then stick it to the glue with some tape.

Leave it for an hour or so. It then comes off quite easy.

I found some gentle heat (wife's hair dryer) and a plastic scraper removed reasonably well.

Lighter fluid and a cloth, believe it or not, works superbly.

Toffee wheel is a good shout for removing adhesive off the paintwork. I will give lighter fluid a try. I'm just being impatient.

I haven't weatherstrip glue specifically, but usually where white spririt is slow to work or ineffective you could try methylated spirits...

Most furniture spray polish will work. Just leave to soak in then a bit of elbow grease.

I used a toffee wheel to remove the residue off the body work and I'm still persisting in soaking the adhesive on the rubber. I'm trying not to soak it too much as I don't want it to affect the rubber.
