Sad To See This Still Goes On...

Hey,

I was approached by a nice elderly man the other day in a car park, he loved my 205 and told me of how he's owned a white one since new thats only done 70k.

However, he came home a few weeks ago to find two men on his driveway with crowbars, they ran off once they saw him but this is the damage:

He's not super internet savvy so I'm trying to source him a couple of doors so if anyone can help let me know.

what makes it worse is how simple it is to get in without any damage whatsoever :/

Wankers. I fear that this kind of thing will happen more often as the desirability of the cars increases over the next decade or so, take mk1/mk2 escorts; 20 years ago you couldnt give them away, nowadays people are scared to leave them anywhere :(

Yep, mines locked away in a garage and will continue to do be after someone tried to break into/steal car and wheels right outside my house several years ago.

Very sad to hear about the white 205 above.....

This - clearly the would-be thieves were utterly clueless to cause that much damage trying (and failing!) to break in when there's more than one way to very easily break into these cars without causing any damage or making any untoward amount of noise.

Hell, just putting a brick through the window would have been quicker, more discrete and less destructive than what these oafs have done.

Good luck sourcing a pair of doors - word of warning for you, earlier (Phase 1 and 1.5) and later (Phase 2) 205's are a different shade of white so keep that in mind if you're hoping for doors to fit without paint.

Good piece of info Anthony.

I recently got an Xsara 16v engine delivered to my work. The courier asked what it was for, i said, "oh its for my 205". He said, "is that you with the white one up xxxxx road?" I said yep, he said "my son told me he's seen it and said its a beauty"

My car is rarely parked out my garage, and when it is, its sat at side of house about 15m away from road and couldnt be seen unless you looked right up my drive because of a hedge.

Fortunately the guy went on to say he had an XR3, but the point is these little cars get noticed, and we just need to hope the wrong person doesnt notice it.

There were two cars stolen and various other incidents in my village last weekend so I looked through my cctv and at 1:30am Saturday night/Sunday morning there were two people walking all over my driveway checking out both 205s and the garage door.

Its sad to see. I worry about mine getting pinched all the time these days. Echoing what Welshpug said, you can get into a 205 as quickly without a key as you can with one, and not cause any damage!!

I've let my mate know as he was one of the people who had his car stolen.

This sort of thing is always horrible/worrying to hear.

We had a couple of neanderthals come through the village walking up and over peoples cars about a month ago. Most people's cars are kept on drives here so these guys were going out of their way. Thankfully they decided to exclusively skip our place for some unknown reason, my 205 isn't kept at home but my dad and brother would've been distraught if their S2000/rather lovely MR2 had been damaged.

Scumbags.. Having both an Escort and a 205 I'm getting increasingly nervous about some scrote trying to nick one of them...

Personally, having had two Escorts nicked back in the late 80's / early 90's I think car thieves should have their hands cut off.

Hope you manage to find some decent doors for the old chap.

I'm sure I'd be just as gutted if my old car got stolen as the owner of a new car would be.

Sorry, i'am sure we all would be, i did't quite mean it to sound lke that!

Getting my new car stolen wouldn't bother me as much as the 205 as its not like you can just order up another.

I can however see the purpose in stealing new premium brand cars. As they are normally stolen to be shipped abroad and resold. Can't see the business in stealing a 205 though.
