Wheel Stud Conversion

Recommended Posts

Hi There,

I've been looking at the following wheel stud conversion kit.

I am running 205 speedlines, do these have a 60 degree taper or are they flat bolt?

Currently I have a mixture of wheel nuts on the car and I am either going to pick up a set of 1.9 bolts this week or buy a stud conversion kit.

There was someone on here selling proper stud conversion kits but I can't remember who (sorry) - I bought a kit and it's top notch.

It would have been Graham (Pugtorque), but that was a fair few years ago. I think they came from Rally Design http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/ but were specially ordered.

Was no more than 2 years ago I bought mine. Hard to believe they originated at Rally Design though ...

might have been grayston direct, quality varied on those, pug or citroen sport are the best direct fit studs, or if you modify the flanges you can press in subaru studs which are quite a bit cheaper.

Other than making it easier/quicker to get the wheel back on, what are the benefits of studs over bolts?

Most studs from ebay and the like are very poor quality with cut threads. I got mine from Tri competion in france Pug sport spec at a fraction of the cost & excellent sevice. the only set of 1.9 bolts I can source and he wants 65 euro, just to much for me for old bolts.

Is there any where that sells replica chrome flat seat bolts ?

I would imagine you would get a decent set of bolts for about £20 by posting a wanted ad on here...

I managed to get some 60 degree to flat washers :)

So I'm going to buy a stud conversion.

How long should the studs be so that they will work with speedlines. 60mm enough?

60mm is enough if you're using regular flat seat nuts on 1.9 wheels.

I'm clearly missing something, but what's with the 60 degree - flat washers you've bought? You only need studs and flat seat bolts with you're running 1.9 wheels.

I think the pug sport studs are 68mm, be careful what you buy most Ebay stud conversions are poor quality it's not worth loosing a wheel.

I can only come across 60 degree nuts, the washers sit on to the nuts to give a flat face.

I'll look into it in more depth. Last thing I want is a wheel coming off.haha
