How To Remove Inlet Manifold On Turbo Diesel ?

Recommended Posts

mmatthej1

I've been up at our local scrapyard, trying to get an inlet manifold from a TD Citroen Xantia - have managed to remove all pipework, plus 6 nuts holding manifold to the head BUT - although it is now free enough to wobble in the hand and shows a small gap between head/manifold - it is reluctant to come off!

I have tapped the upper chamber quite hard with hammer but don't want to go mad on this, in case the casting breaks - any ideas, please?

Managed to get help from a local mechanic - we found another nut, at base of manifold, but then had quite a job getting enough clearance for removal of loosened manifold. Had to loosen the actual turbo, to allow clearance of manifold to (I think) pop-off valve.

Any way, job now done - not easy!

(PS. Wonder what the actual tubo is, in terms of manufacturer, model, spec? Is it a 'low pressure' turbo, as used on some PSA variants? )
