Engine Mount Buffer Shims?

Recommended Posts

dobboy

I was speaking to a guy yesterday who has built lots of 205 rally cars over the years.

I was telling him about me popping my gearlinkage over the weekend on the track, and that i thought it may be down to me having New Pug upper and Gbox mounts, that still allowed a bit of engine movement.

He said, he thought pug brought out a shim for 205's that had a male and female stud that to fit you would loosen a buffer, slip the shim down, and the male stud of the buffer would fit inside the female part of the shim, with the male part of the shim fitting through the inner wing mount position.

He seemed to think they were brought out to stop throttle cables being stretched/throttling when kangerooing.

Anyone heard of this?

TIA

you just have worn out linkages, but yes peugeot did use shims on the buffers.

Cheers, anyone know a part no?

I'll change the links but gonna add a shim if possible too as engine moves a bit more than id like.

Worst case a big washer works, or a home made spacer is just as good

I very much doubt you'll find them shims at a main dealer

As said, m8x40 repair washer with slot cut out, works for me

My old 8v had some of these fitted, as Jord says just m8 repair washers with a slot.

A few of these in Belgium I have ordered up.

4 sets at one dealer.

8 quid RRP was a good price.

One pack contains 6 I assume as that was sealed.

That's all that came in the pack and as above sealed.

Roughly, how thick would 3 shims be back to back?

Are you selling them? If so how much is a pack of 6 delivered?

(I thought they would have an indent for the buffer nipple, and an out-dent to sit in the hole for buffer mount.)

How do you decide how many shims are needed? Are the rubber buffers meant to be touching the engine mount bracket?
