Recommended Posts

Will they scrub?

Have 309 wishbones and rear beam.

Wheels are 7inch wide (standard speedlines are 6.5iirc).

ET 15 as well.

People's thoughts?

Probably be alright depending on how low.

I've got 7' 1.2's on my flat arch with a 1.9 beam and my mate has 7' speedline corse wheels on a gti with a 309 beam.

It's lowish as its a track car. Not silly ghetto low though.

Is the 309 beam 2cm wider than the 205 isn't it?

I think it will be bloody tight but may go. Will depend on how square the tyre is. My car is 309 beam with 306 arms, plus extra +4mm per side, with 6.75" wheels. It just about fits with the plastic arch returns trimmed back to nothing.

205 beam here with ET8 6.75J wheels and my arches have been smoothed off at the back. As Tom said, tyre shoulder squareness profile makes a difference. Potentially easier on 195/45/15's too as opposed ot 195/50/15's.

What off set Tom?

.25 inch is 6.3mm, so your 4mm spacer takes it to pretty much the same as the 7 inchers.

A048 tyres, which iirc are pretty square (195/50).

The 306 arms add another 9mm a side.

When I had my beam lowered (albeit on a very stiff rear end) it did rub with my 1.2's (205 beam) - you'll be 11mm wider than mine was, you'll end up shredding tyres and destroying arches tbh

I felt that this was too low so it came up about 30mm to match a new set of springs fitted to the front.

Dcc - where you on 309 fronts too?

We're they ok?

So it's looking like people who run 205's with pro race 1.2's are only getting away with.it on 205 beam widths then??

See, my stock 309 beam with a 195 tyre on standard speedlines scrubs on full load, and thats with my arch trims chopped back too :(

I'd even thought of swapping to a 185 tyre when i refurb the wheels to geat a bit more room...

I have 7J superleggera's, with spacers it comes down to ET17. (or ET22; not sure ) and it is really tight. My arches are also chopped back and the scrub on bumps if loaded. I have 195/45/16 Pzero Nero tires; not really 'square' tires. Running semi's is impossible. The car lowered a bit. (30-40mm).

I'm gonna modify my bump stops, to avoid the scrubbing...
