Mi16 Engine Judder

Recommended Posts

Hi

Hope you experts can help me diagnose an issue.

My engine was rebuilt a couple of months ago. It has been running very smoothly etc with no issues.I have recently done around 1500 miles with no problems. Just so you know the engine is the 160hp d6b running the mi16 management. The idle is rock stable at 1k. Car starts first time every time.

However, ever since the engine had been rebuilt, there has been a small issue. Every now and then the engine judders. This is as though you let go of the accelerator suddenly and stomp on it again then let go again. This happens quickly for about 1-2 seconds. When it happens, it is not pleasant as will literally shake the car violently. It is not a misfire or anything like that. This happens at any rpm between 1-4k. It occurs maybe once every 20-30 minutes usually when accelerating or when accelerating hard. The problem disappeared for about 2-3 weeks but has come back again. The revs go up and down slightly when this happens.

I have replaced-

1. Dizzy cap, rotor - beru

2. Ignition amp - brand new bosch blue

3. Leads - bougicord.

What could this possibly be? Can the AFM be the culprit? I have checked all the connectors etc and all seem intact.

Hope someone can help with this. I have checked other topics too but they relate to a misfires and not really similar to my issue.

Thanks
