Anyone Ditch Their Tax Disc Today? :)

Mine got ditched and replaced with my cars '95 disc for the period-look Geeky I know!

I've still got the disc that expired at the end of September on my screen so i'll remove that the next time I take the car out for a run.

 

Evidently the online service was out of action for most of yesterday and a fair bit of today with loads of people complaining, so I just went and paid for my 6 months at the PO instead and it went through without any issue. Seemed a bit weird not getting a bit of paper in return, so I just need to get a period one made up at some point to fill the holder.

not specifically, my zx has a new screen and it just passed an MOT today, so the screen will never have anything stuck to it ever

Removed mine as I retaxed it yesterday online, don't really see the point of retro-fitting an old one as 1) never kept any old tax discs and 2) it's blimmin ancient anyway so no need to prove it.

The only thing that's slightly disappointing is that now you get nothing at all for your £230, instead of a little round piece of paper...

Maybe an 80's hologram 3D tax disc. Now that would be cool in our 80's cars!

What's the crack with buying a car now, is it a case of taxing it online/over the phone on the day?

If so, I envisage most car sales being done in the first week of each month to avoid wasting a few weeks worth of tax!

Can I buy Tax 1 month at a time now instead of every 6 or 12 months?

Is there any cost saving by buying 12 months anymore?

Think they are starting monthly next month. Only supposed to be slightly more than paying in 6 or 12. Not had a tax disc holder on the window for months.

Its 5% extra to pay 6 months or monthly direct debit, rather than the previous 10% extra for 6 months - or least so i have read.
