Speedo Gears Posdibly Mixed Up.

Recommended Posts

ALEX

A car can pass an mot with a broken speedo. I did not know that!

The speedo shows about half of what I'm actually doing and seems to be very sluggish slowly dropping when stopping.

It could be that the speedo drive gears have been mixed up. I had a yellow little one with a white big one.

Then swapped them with a red little one and a black big one from a be3.

The gears didn't look interchangable, I.e red with black, but I could be wrong. I'm still having the same symptom.

The speedo seems to be working freely using a drill attached to the end.

is there something im overlooking?

I have a large black cog in mine with a small green (I think) - will find out for certain in a few weeks when box comes out, but the point of this post was to say that the speedo is 2mph out @ 70mph (195 50 15 tyres & a brand new peugeot speedo cable).

Well had a look and ive fitted a black and yellow as the red and white are still on my workbench. I was piecing it together from memory on my first post and I think im starting to loose it a little.

I have a spare set of clocks to try as im thinking the problem isnt the gears now.
