Does A Tu3S Fuel Pump Have A Gasket?

Recommended Posts

For no apparent reason, I'm not getting any petrol through to the carb, I've replaced the fuel hose from the filter to the pump and from the pump to the carb, and that didnt improve it. I tried sucking the hose from before the pump, and that brought fuel through fine, so my next port of call is to swap the pump over. I've got a spare lying about in the garage, but I can't for the life of me remember whether they have a gasket between pump and head?

Can anybody advise whether one is required? or would a suitable oil resistant liquid gasket do the job?

I think I've got an old headgasket set lying around somewhere, so I'm guessing if there is a gasket, there may be one in there, but I dont want to go searching for something that doesnt exist!

On another note, how the hell does a mechanical fuel pump randomly stop working?? It was fine, then I changed the exhaust manifold, went to start it, and no fuel. Strange!

Cheers!

There's a gasket shown on Servicebox. I imagine you'd get one in a gasket set, but I've never see a TU gasket set myself, so couldn't say for sure.

Cheers, I'm sure there was something in the gasket set which I didn't recognise, which could well be it. I'll have to have a dig around in the deep dark corner of the garage and see what I can find. I guess I could try and be extra careful taking the pump off and hopefully preserve the original gasket

Here's what it looks like if it helps.

That does indeed help, thanks!

turns out the gasket is quite thick rubber, so the original was in perfect condition. It also turns out that there was nothing wrong with the pump, so the fault finding continues :(

They can be a real pig to start, just keep sucking it through and turning it over, un clip the fuel filter and pipe and get it high up as poss

I've replaced another little bit of hose between the clear hose and the filter, and I got it to start for a second or two, but then spluttered and cut out. I've just ordered a new filter, as this one looks gammy, hopefully that will see it spring into life.
