Possibly The Most Rust Seen On The Exterior Of A 205.

Recommended Posts

forbeslongden

This car is probably the most rusty 205 I've ever seen when it comes to exterior, all those places apart from the stress crack areas I've never seen go on a 205 and this one is from my hometown too!

Have you guys ever seen on as bad as this? Aside from Miles Horne's rotten Miami, I can't think of another that's even close to this...

Apparently the car has been Sorn'd since 2008 and was in a garage near the sea - I can understand the high percentage of salty air we get here in Plymouth and the South West taking it's toll in the usual places on the 205 but Jesus, I wouldn't even begin to guess how the water has got under some of that!

I could only assume it's had a really bad paint job once in it's life, I like how honest and original it is, but that's a whole heap of work there!

He's pretty honest with his eBay write up for it but I'd be very wary of no engine bay shot or even under the back seats... There's bound to be major rot there and in the boot too!

I have seen old mini's with worse rot at less that 8 years of age than that.

I have seen old mini's for sale described as MINT condition with more rot than that.

Edited for truth!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, I'd expect this sort of rust from any 80-90's era Rover, Ford, Vauxhall, Skoda, BMC etc but a Peugeot 205? Not so much! Even the early ones don't seem to suffer as badly as this one has!

It's got to be a tree that had grown around the back end causing it to get excessively wet, surely?!

Excessive bird sh!t or tree sap not being cleaned off, followed by salty sea air would be my guess, possibly followed by some rough tarp being thrown over the top to keep all the nastyness in

A wet garage is worse than keeping a car outside. Outside at least moisture gets to dry off in sun and wind. In a wet garage the car gets wet and stays wet.

Looks like concrete pre fab garage syndrome. Condensation building up and then dripping on the car and sitting there. If that's_a saline solution then no wonder its fooked!!

What sort of money? I'd buy it for the trim if it was cheap enough

A photo of my rough and rusty 205 XLD on its last journey before Any restoration work was carried out. As you can see from the photo it was quite rusty, however at this stage the car had endured 24 salty winters on Scottish roads.

It still managed to sell for £426. I don't think I was even brave enough to have a go on that one. Essentially, someone bought it as a non-runner with no tax or test, brave, very brave!
