Tailgate Replacement

Hi,

 

The tailgate on my car is pretty rusted and I have asked the local body shop man to look for a replacement.

 

Can a tailgate from any 205 be used and the parts swapped over easily ?

He wasn't sure how the spoiler was fixed to the tailgate ?

Also - Is it possible to get a replacement window seal ? I think that is how water was getting into my current one.

 

 

Anyone, within driving easy driving distance of St Neots / Bedford got one for sale in good nick ? Preferably in the cherry red ?

Tailgate glass is bonded, the rubber strip is just a trim.

 

the spoiler if fitted uses screws into plastic inserts on phase 1.5 on, phase droopy tache type was bonded

 

any tailgate can be used, phase1 has a different profile on the top edge.

Im not exactly local, but I've got a good tailgate available? Its silver and will need a repaint, but if you're stuck let me know.

make sure that the hinges are the same - some are one +some are two bolt fixing into the tailgate -think the later ones are the single bolt fixing

I've got an 89 red one but will still need paint as its a pretty faded red/orange, I'm in Stoke on Trent, I'll check the condition of it tomorrow if you're interested

Checked this morning, no rot just needs painting, spoiler is fitted also

My tailgate is fixed by 2 off hinges.

Each hinge has 2 off bolts on each end.
