What Tool Do I Need?

Hi All

 

I want to buy one of those tools that allows you to connect up an air line to your combustion chamber at TDC, so you can change your valve stem oil seals without taking your head off.

 

 

Unfortunately I don't know what they're called.

 

Anyone know?

Feed thin rope in through the spark plug hole, then turn the piston up to TDC.

I've heard of this. I'll probably give it a go if I have no luck with finding an airline adaptor.

rope is the way. no fiddling around boring out spark plugs and making up adaptors.

Have a look at Sealey VS1601, it should do what you want.

 

Nice and cheap as well.

A compression test kit comes with a spark plug fitting fixed to a flexi pipe, all you would then need is a fitting to take you from the flexi to your air supply pipe.

 

And you'd still have future use of the compression test set if required.
