Tu24 Rallye Pistons/rods Etc

Recommended Posts

My current TU24 has now done 15 seasons of speed events and it's time for an "evolution".There's nothing wrong with it, uses no oil and is very economical on the road circa 40 mpg.

The engine is currently running a standard bottom end (lightened billet flywheel) with a Longman Group A Head. Kent PT02 (I think) cam, twin DCOM's and omex ignition only ECU, 4/2/1 Csc Marmitte manifold and Pipercross sausage filter. The gearbox is an MA5S with quaife gear kit, AP Suretrac diff and standard final drive ratio. Always use Millers nanodrive oil and change every year or 3,000 miles max.

Any advice on pistons, rods - Farndon, Carillo,Omega, Wossner? What compression ratio can I get away with using Shell v power/Tesco Momentum? Was planning on lightening and balancing the lot, ARP bolts and possibly changing cam. Should I get a new oil pump,if so what make? The carbs are original and have done 220,000KMs but don't seem to have any wear or gunk inside them. Should I get them rebuilt?

The car is used for hillclimbs sprints and is driven to events so I can't go too extreme, but I'm willing to buy the best bits on the basis that I don't want to buy twice or rely on chinese forged rods that will go bang.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.
