Motronic 3.1 'k' Engine Management Light

Recommended Posts

As I'm trundling on with the motronic 3.1 install, and have got the jetronic loom and ecu out now. While stripping out some of the dash to get to the clocks, to fit my ABS warning light bulb to the clock cluster, it dawned on me that the motronic setup might have the option to illuminate the engine management 'K' light- does it have the potential to do this if something is amiss with it, and is there anything I need to do at this stage while fitting it to wire it in correctly?

Thanks,

Craig

All the various Motronic ECUs can turn on the warning light. You just need to fit a bulb if there isn't one in there already, and connect the appropriate wire to the ECU.

The white connector on the back of the clocks should have wire #74 on one of the pins. Iirc that goes down to one of the brown multi-plugs in the driver's footwell, You just connect #74 directly to the diagnostic wire on the ECU - I think it's pin 4.

Thanks Ryan, that sounds most useful. A bulb is already fitted, so will look out the wire on the dash plug, and investigate the new loom during fitting to wire in the diag feed from the ECU :)

Your brown multi plug will have a spare wire for it, 99% of models after 1989 have it as std.
