Replacing Rear Seat Bracket Bolts

Recommended Posts

scbond

I have a couple of bolts missing on the rear sear/bench brackets. No idea what bolt type they are as Servicebox doesn't say. Anyone know?

Also, is there anyway to get to them without fully draining, disconnecting and dropping the fuel tank? Is it possible to loosen and move the tank slightly?

If you're referring to the four lower hinge points for the seat bases, they are studs welded on to the shell.

Standard M6 thread.

They're the ones. Was hoping that wasn't the case as well. Have one missing on each hinge. Assuming the only way is to remove the tank full and then weld in new ones?

If you are very careful you could drill through the centre of the old stud 5mm and tap M6. Then use a short bolt going the other way to secure the seat bracket. Needs to be done carefully as if you drill too far its the fuel tank you will hit.

That probably makes the most sense to do but ideally I wanna keep it standard...even with bolts haha.
