Gear Stick Surround And Gaitor Refurb.

Decided to tackle this as the plastic surround I have has faded badly.

 

Before/After.

Dishwasher to clean/remove grease.

Half a coat of Plasticare trim dye.

Looking at this picture mate you've stapled the gaiter in the wrong order. the plastic trim is meant to go on the inside of the gaiter. The idea is to sandwich the gaiter between the inner trim (which you cant see once done) and the actual gear surround trim.

 

Look at the final picture of goliaths, you'll see what i mean

I bought a red stitched one for my green interiored car, oh well didn't know they did green stitched ones. Doesn't look too bad.

I bought a green stitched one for the Goodwood. Some light rubbing with black shoe polish turned the bright green to dark green - result!

 

Both my CTI and GTI have these as well in grey and black - good value and quality too.

I would change it but I had the top tightened up by a trimmer to match the original as it is too sloppy around the gear stick for my liking and as the great knob inlay and steering wheel centre is red it just looks like its part of the theme.......that's what I say anyway :-p

They only did the bright green one when I bought mine a few months ago.
