Power Steering Ram Leaking

Recommended Posts

christopher

My dad says that the powere steering ram on his 205 1.9 is leaking

Servicebox shows two versions, one for diesel and carbs and another for injection.

  • Does anyone know what the difference is?
  • Are there any reliable companies to service these racks & rams
  • Any ideas if they can both be used?

part number are 401145 & 401144

Thanks

Christopher

I think you might be able to use one off a 405 also, but I'm not 100% sure.

I believe they look more or less identical.

One is NLA and one isn't.

I had this discussion I cant see being much difference.

My mate Remco has one going cheap if you want his.

$125 Euro plus tax, they are close to £300 UK pounds over here.

That's the 4011 44 he has (non GTI)

Add a bit postage as well.

Does 401144 actually fit? Have you tired this?

It will fit as the racks are the same as far as I know.

Must be a slight difference somewhere but whether it's a problem I can't say.

Cant see a ram off a 405 fitting, my 605's ram was huge in comparison (a lot fatter and longer) and the 405 is a similar sized car to a 605.

Surely someone with a 405 can say for sure?

605 is far larger, 405 is the same size as a 306, and we know how many parts from those bolt straight on.

I have a spare 205 ram you're welcome to for the cost of postage.

Oh right, the 605 is a bit larger and wider, just assumed they would have similar racks

We fitted the 44 version and this works fine now.
