Nicks 205. Very recognizable number plate.

I was down to the last 2 or 3 205 GTI's to be chosen for this.

I'll still watch it though. ;)

Why oh why do they insist on smashing cars up. I know its a s*it old Lada, but is this what constitutes as good TV for car enthusiasts? Other than that I enjoyed it.

Agreed.

It was funny the first time Clarkson did it in the 90's, but it's worn a little thin now.

I enjoyed the show, agree with the comments above about the stupid stunt at the end.

That ripple 2cv is identical age wise to my dads, except ours in more bits.

Enjoyed the vw history bit.

VSP cars are still driven in France, by licence losers!

Stop blowing cars up!

Just watching the James may program and nicks car was on there versus a porsche 911, looked well. Just waiting to see if my 306 gti will be on there?

Watched the 3rd episode last night and when he was driving the Countach he said something like "it still looks modern today". Whaaaaaaaaaaaat!!!!? A Countach is just about the epitome of a design that that is totally embedded within it's era. It screams 70s/80s futuristic styling. What a total bell end

Did he get a handout from VW?

Don't get me wrong, I like the Golf but would say it's too overpriced to be 'the car of the people'.

1st episode was good.

The rest was poor.

The countach review was recycled clarksons.

Nice see Harry Metcalfe though, thought I recognised the car.

To be honest, I can't understand how the 205 didn't get it's own episode really... It seemed like they just shoe-horned the car in the programme with no real heritage link before hand, 'we've got this Porsche.... Let's race it against....... A 205 GTi, yeah a 205!' it just didn't really flow and seemed a fluff piece.

I can't really recall May actually stating the 205 is renowned for it's handling rather than putting the Porsche down for being a bit of a nightmare to drive.

I think you may have missed the point - it was about cars for the people.

During the 80's these were two aspirational cars for two different types of people.

Yeah; I get that. What I'm saying is, versus the Golf featured on the show, I cant understand why the 205 only got a competition piece rather than a better explanation as to why it was such a real competitor to the wave of other hot hat he's of the era.
