Best Way To Sort This Rust Out

Recommended Posts

john-melbourne

Hi Guys,

Andy (Slo) is coming to help me fit my replacement hood and frame on Friday, so hopefully i will have a water tight car after that! With this in mind i wouldn't mind starting to sort the rust areas out on my car. Firstly how bad does this look, and how would i go about sorting it out?

This is the passenger side rear sill, i have poked it with a screwdriver and it seems quite solid, it just seems like the stone chip stuff is starting to come off.

Drivers side sill, again i have poked/scraped with a screwdriver and it seems quite solid, just the Stone chip stuff peeling off again. The stuff at the top right of the picture isnt rust, its just green sapp that's needs jet washing :)

This is the where the door again seems solid.

This is under the driver side door seal, again seems solid enough?

This is boot floor, near the drivers side rear light.

This is just some more from the boot floor.

This is from under the tailgate seal.

So what do you guys reckon?

I have just found an unopened bottle of Hydrate 80, so will have this to use if needed.

Thanks

John

Remove fuel tank, with rust like that on the sill your more than likely to have allot behind it too and the inner sill

Checked the front of the sills out this morning and everything looked fine, the underseal has cracked on the passenger foot well though and is started to come away with a bit of rust.

Its the front inner wings and arches in the engine bay you need to have a good luck underneath all the furniture
