Should the big bolt as seen in Cazzo's post be horsed up?

http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=114035

My clutch pedal seems to be a lot heavier than it was pre 16v conversion, and compared to a 6speed gti6 and another BE1 box I've tried.

I remember tightening the bolt up as I found it a bit slack when my box was out.

My clutch functions well, it just feels heavier than It should and this bolt is the only thing I can think of that's causing it.

Anyone?

TIA

sounds like you have missed out a washer which should be stopping the shank of the bolt from pulling into the soft alloy casing, also try new top hat bushes.

That arm should move freely on the black plastic sleeves that are between the big bolt and the arm.

Thanks both.

I'll have a closer look at it. I'm sure I put everything back on as it came off, but maybe the washer was never there when i got it. I don't remember seeing one but its a while ago, and with the bolt previously being slack, the little arm would roll no problem.

WP, is the top hat bushes they things that come in either yellow or white? Or something else?

Top hat bushes are the black collars on the bolt in question.

Not really relevant to your question but your cable shouldn't be tight, as the clutch wears out the cable will tighten up more so slacken it off just a tad

Slo, my cable is tight, I've adjusted it so my pedals are similar height and to where I want my biting point.

Are you saying I should slacken it off so there is a little bit of play on the cable?

If the bush's are worn I have these which are the same as the subframe bush's, or even the std plastic ones for a few quid, but the washers and bolt need to be cleaned up and the clutch canbe quite lite on them
